Our wedding was the most spectacular day of my entire life, from the music, to the atmosphere, and especially the family memories. I seem to believe that every little girl has their wedding planned by the time they’re twelve.. But once that time FINALLY comes, you have no idea where to start and no idea what you’re doing.
First of all, you MUST pick a date! Everything and everyone in the wedding business revolves around your wedding date, so get that out of the way first and foremost! We got engaged in August of 2014, and I knew I wanted a year long engagement, at least. Living in the valley, I knew it would still be extremely hot in August, so I decided that the very last weekend in September would be perfect weather (and it was!) Once you have your wedding date picked out the full wedding planning can begin!
The obvious choice for our wedding was “western chic,” and we knew for sure that was what we wanted. It fits perfectly with our lifestyle and, lets be honest, what better way to party than in some good boots?! Another thing that I think is most important is knowing your color. All of your decorations, linen rentals, and bridal parties attire will be based around your color. I picked the color “apple” which resembled a wine-like color, because i wanted something that went with the fall season, but was also vibrant and bold.
I searched pinterest over and over and over again for months and months and took bits and pieces of many different weddings and customized them to fit my liking. I spent countless hours burning my fingers with hot glue and gluing them together with super glue.. I had an endless amount of glitter embedded into my carpet.. I filled every empty space in our house and closets with all of my wedding stuff and I loved every single minute of it.
If I could, I would plan a new wedding for myself every year, but unfortunately, my husband says he will not partake (party pooper!) So instead, I want to live vicariously through brides and friends who want the perfect wedding or party. Stay tuned for a post from my most recent event, a bohemian bridal shower!
